3D printing is one of the most promising technologies: it opens a whole new way in which products are created and it offers a lot of advantages compared to the usual traditional manufacturing methods. In the main, the advantages of 3D printing are that it reduces the time in which it takes to get a product manufactured, and that it removes constraints that are often experienced through the usual traditional manufacturing methods.
At present 3D printing technology meets several challenges, to make the prints much stronger at lower cost, and to print as fast as possible.
Graphene, being the strongest material ever, can be used as a reinforcing agent in 3D printing plastics and provide extraordinary strength to the printed parts.
However, in order to be used as a reinforcing agent, graphene additives have to be of specific parameters - single layered flakes of the uniform lateral size and active surface. This is the challenge our team is working on toward creation of Graphene Reinforced 3D Photopolymers (GRAFORCE).
